Somerset Academy has a rolling admissions policy. Sending districts may set up appointments for potential candidates throughout the school year. Appointments for visitations may be scheduled with the Principal Mr. Luke Miller or LDTC Lisa Olasz. The Somerset Academy staff reviews the student’s academic and behavioral records. An individualized educational plan is then developed cooperatively with district representatives. Students may start as soon as transportation is arranged.
The Somerset Elementary Academy Program meets all educational requirements for classified students, grades K-8, as outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEP). Levels of instruction and behavioral goals are modified as needed. Our program design incorporates a Behavioral Evaluation Plan for all students. Students gain incentives from earning points within the BEP based on positive academic progress and improved behavioral choices. All students participating in the program receive group and individual counseling based. Goals and objectives are developed with parent and student input and finalized with the entire Child Study Team.
Through the assistance of our specially trained staff, students make positive progress by increasing academic achievement and reducing interfering behaviors. The goal for students remains the same; to transition students to back to their home districts.
