The Somerset Secondary Academy Program is a school that serves classified students in grades 9-12 who have been unsuccessful in a traditional school setting. Individual Education Plans (IEP) are developed and implemented to ensure academic and behavioral success through unique and innovative programming.

Some programming options include:

·                     Credit Recovery

·                     Paid School to Work Experience

·                     Intramural/Interscholastic sports programs

·                     Certified Driver’s Education

·                     Behavioral Intervention Plans

·                     Social Skills Training

·                     Career Exploration

Instructional strategies address the strength and needs of each individual student. Program initiatives are implemented in a small nurturing environment. Class sizes are small and each student receives the personal attention he/she needs in order to be successful. Instructional modifications are made as needed. Students requiring additional support to begin their journey acclimating into high school classes may participate in a Transitional High School.

All students participating in the program receive group and individual counseling based on their individualized Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP). Behavioral Intervention Plans are developed for each student with emphasis on positive behavior choices. Program goals and objectives are based on personal accountability and the development of appropriate behaviors necessary for academic and lifelong success.

Our program design incorporates a Behavioral Evaluation Plan for all students. Students gain incentives from earning points within the BEP based on positive academic progress and improved behavioral choices. The goal for students remains the same; to transition students back to their home districts.
